Referrals

Referrals to the DSYTC come from a variety of sources, including:

  • Adolescents or young adults with addiction problems (self-referral)
  • Parents, caregivers or family members
  • Private practitioners, physicians or clergy
  • Schools, colleges, universities
  • Addiction and mental health assessment/treatment agencies
  • Outpatient or community-based programs, services and partners (e.g. Children’s Aid Society, Probation)
  • Institutional partners (e.g., The Royal, CHEO, teaching and community hospitals)

NOTE: DSYTC live-in treatment is voluntary, thus the youth client must be interested in attending and participating in treatment in order to proceed with the application process.
