Referrals to the DSYTC come from a variety of sources, including:
- Adolescents or young adults with addiction problems (self-referral)
- Parents, caregivers or family members
- Private practitioners, physicians or clergy
- Schools, colleges, universities
- Addiction and mental health assessment/treatment agencies
- Outpatient or community-based programs, services and partners (e.g. Children’s Aid Society, Probation)
- Institutional partners (e.g., The Royal, CHEO, teaching and community hospitals)
NOTE: DSYTC live-in treatment is voluntary, thus the youth client must be interested in attending and participating in treatment in order to proceed with the application process.
